Islam Karimov welcomed the outcome of the Uzbek-American Business Forum

Uzbek President Islam Karimov has characterized as a positive fact, the success of the business forum, organized by the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUTP), which was attended by about 80 U.S. businessmen from the leaders of the top 25 U.S. companies, most of which is transnational.

He said, taking a delegation of business circles in the U.S., led by the chairman AUCC Carolyn Lamm, reported the National News Agency of Uzbekistan (UzA).

Carolyn Lamm expressed appreciation for the ease of doing business, created for U.S. companies in Uzbekistan, and noted the broad prospects for further expansion of the presence of investment, technology and production of high-tech companies in the American republic.

As evidence of the great interest of the American business community in Uzbekistan AUCC chairman led an active part in the business forum of companies such as "General Motors", "Boeing", "GE", "Lockheed Martin", "Merck", "Rio Tinto" "White & Case", "Anadarko", "Case New Holland", "Nuke", "Solar Turbayns", "Caterpillar", "Zeppelin".

It was noted that the basis for such interest are macroeconomic and political stability, increasing opportunities for the implementation of large-scale investment projects in Uzbekistan with the assistance of advanced U.S. technology and the strategic importance of the country as the largest market in Central Asia.

According to the chairman, success in joint projects is the availability of rich mineral potential of Uzbekistan, industry and transport infrastructure, highly qualified and reliable system of privileges, preferences, and safeguards the rights of foreign investors.

As reported, the business forum was held in the framework of the third round of the Uzbek-American political consultations.

According to UzA, during a business forum between the Uzbek and American companies reached agreements on 21 projects totaling about $ 2.8 billion in sectors such as mechanical engineering, metal, power, oil and gas production, oil-gas, electrical and mining, pharmaceuticals , the production of food.

Currently registered in Uzbekistan 241 venture created with the participation of U.S. investors, the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the accredited representatives of 47 U.S. companies.
Accumulated direct investment by U.S. companies more than two billion dollars. In 2011, bilateral trade amounted to 249.9 million dollars in January-June of this year - $ 127 million.
