Uzbek President Islam Karimov has signed a decree to award teachers and those distinguished in education and upbringing in connection with the Teacher's Day.
According to the presidential decree, published in the national media on Friday, 16 representatives of the education sector were awarded with the title of national teacher for significant contribution to raising the country's intellectual and spiritual potential.
Moreover, a large group of individuals working in education, 82, were awarded with orders and medals.
According to the presidential decree adopted in late 1996, Teacher's Day is celebrated in Uzbekistan on October 1 as a national holiday.
