Uzbekistan to increase excises on alcohol and tobacco production in 2013

Uzbekistan will increase excise tax alcohol and tobacco produced in the country from 5 to 25 percent from Jan.1, 2013, Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Rustam Azimov said at the Senate’s meeting.

Uzbekistan will increase excise tax alcohol and tobacco produced in the country from 5 to 25 percent from Jan.1, 2013, Uzbekistan's First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Rustam Azimov said at the Senate's meeting.

In particular, the excise on wine will be increased by 5 percent, for ethyl alcohol - 15 percent, to other types of alcoholic beverages - by 20 percent, tobacco products - by 25 percent.

"Additional revenues of 101 billion sums will be added to the revenue part of the budget as a result of the increase in excise tax rates on these types of products," Azimov said.

As it was reported, excise tax on ethyl alcohol from Jan.1, 2012 was set at 2,635 sums per decilitre, the wine - 4,981 sums, cognac, vodka and other alcoholic beverages - 21,800 sums, beer - 2,587 sums.

The official exchange rate is 1972.99 sum to $1 on Dec.6.
