Uzbekistan to join agreement on combating illegal migration

The Legislative Chamber, lower house of the Uzbek parliament adopted a law on ‘Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Agreement on Co-operation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Combating Illegal Migration (Moscow, March 6, 1998)’, the press service of the Parliament said.

The Legislative Chamber, lower house of the Uzbek parliament adopted a law on 'Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Agreement on Co-operation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Combating Illegal Migration (Moscow, March 6, 1998)', the press service of the Parliament said.

The agreement provides for cooperation in fighting illegal migration including immigration control, registration of third country nationals or stateless persons and citizens illegally crossing borders, as well as those who are denied entry to the territory of one of the parties and an exchange of information on illegal migration.
The agreement also provides for measures to develop the methods of deportation of illegal migrants, information exchange and cooperation in skills development.

The adoption of this law will contribute to a more effective response to modern threats and challenges in the field of illegal migration.

In accordance with the procedures adopted by the lower house of parliament, the law was transferred for approval to the Senate, the upper house of the parliament of the Republic.
