Uzbekistan increased the volume of cargo transportation by 5.4 percent up to 1.344 billion tons in 2012 compared to 2011, the State Statistics Committee (SSC) of the Republic said.

Uzbekistan increased the volume of cargo transportation by 5.4 percent up to 1.344 billion tons in 2012 compared to 2011, the State Statistics Committee (SSC) of the Republic said.

Some 1.149.4 billion tons of cargo was transported by vehicles, which is 5.2 percent more than in 2011. Turnover on the vehicles has increased by 6.1 percent reaching 27.7 billion ton-kilometers.

Transportation of goods by rail has increased by 4.8 percent, to 62 million tons in 2012, turnover increased by 1.6 percent to 22.85 billion ton-kilometers.

State Statistics Committee noted that 65.9 million tons of cargo was transported through the main pipelines in 2012, increase by 10 percent compared to 2011. Turnover increased by 13.4 percent to 34.1 billion ton-kilometers.

State Statistics Committee stated that 24.000 tons of goods was transported by air transport, decrease by 21.9 percent compared to 2011. Turnover decreased by 24.2 percent to 123.2 million ton-kilometers.

Total turnover in Uzbekistan increased by 7.6 percent to 84.8 billion ton-kilometers.

The share of road transport in total traffic was 90.5 percent in 2012, compared to 90.7 percent in 2011. The share of pipelines was 4.9 percent (4.7 percent). The share of rail and air transport remained at 4.6 and 0.002 percent, respectively.

Passenger transportation by all modes of transport increased by 5.8 percent, up to 6.744.3 billion in 2012. Passenger traffic increased by 8.7 percent to 89.6 billion passenger kilometers.

The largest number of passengers, 6.645 billion, or 98.5 percent was transported by vehicles. The volume of passenger transportation on this type of transport increased by 5.8 percent, passenger turnover increased by 8.2 percent to 78.638 billion passenger kilometers.

Transportation of passengers by rail increased by 7.4 percent to 16 million passengers. Passenger turnover increased by 14.4 percent to 3.461 billion passenger kilometers.

Some 2.5 million people were transported by air transport, increase by 18.6 compared to 2011. Passenger turnover increased by 12.4 percent compared to 2010, reaching 7.023 billion passenger kilometers.

Passenger transportation by city transport grew by one percent, to 80.7 million passengers. Passenger turnover rose by 0.3 percent to 540.7 passenger kilometers.
