Ukrainian Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Leonid Kozhara will pay a working visit to Uzbekistan on October 11-13, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said today.
According to the information, Leonid Kozhara and Uzbek Ambassador to Ukraine Alisher Abdullaev held talks and discussed the main direction of further development of political dialogue, especially at the highest level and ways of enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
Agreement was reached following the talks to take joint action to maximally provide the Ukrainian-Uzbek relations with perspective projects of bilateral cooperation.
The sides also discussed cooperation issues of the two countries in international organisations and in particular within the UN.
Ukraine is one of Uzbekistan's most important trading partners. As of 2012, it ranked third among the CIS countries and seventh among Uzbekistan's world partners in the total turnover of goods and services.
Uzbek-Ukrainian trade turnover for 2002-2012 increased 5.7 times amounting to $582.4 million in 2012, the Ukrainian State Statistics Committee said.
Around 50 enterprises with Ukrainian capital are operating in Uzbekistan. The representative offices of 16 Ukrainian companies have been also accredited.
