Uzbekistan, Ukraine discuss topical issues of bilateral relations

Uzbek president Islam Karimov and the Chairman-in-Office of the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Ukraine's Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, international and regional problems, as well as had exchange of view about the agenda of Ukraine’s chairmanship in the OSCE.

Uzbek president Islam Karimov and the Chairman-in-Office of the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Ukraine's Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, international and regional problems, as well as had exchange of view about the agenda of Ukraine's chairmanship in the OSCE, the press-service of Uzbek president said.

As it was reported, Kozhara is on an official visit in Uzbekistan.

According to the report, during the meeting it was stressed that Uzbekistan considers Ukraine as an important and time-tested partner enjoying significant economic and intellectual potential, developed agriculture, transport and social infrastructure.

It was stressed at the meeting that the regular interstate dialogue contributes to further widening and deepening of relations between Uzbekistan and Ukraine in political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Uzbekistan and Ukraine have similar or close positions on many issues of international and regional policy which allows fruitfully interact within multilateral structures such as the UN and OSCE.

Both of the countries are interested in a consistent economic diversification of economy and increasing of its volumes, as well as implementation of joint investment projects in various fields.

According to the press-service of Uzbek president, the Chairman-in -Office of OSCE thanked the Uzbek president for the warm welcome and the provided opportunity to openly and constructively discuss priorities for the development of bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister on behalf of his government confirmed the readiness to further strengthen the multifaceted cooperation with Uzbekistan in the long term and pragmatic basis.
