Tashkent is hosting a meeting of the Senior Officials' Commission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states ministries and institutions in charge of foreign trade, Uzbek Ministry for Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade told Trend on Tuesday.

According to the ministry's representative, it is scheduled to agree the final reports on the implementation of major policy and planning documents in the field of trade and economic cooperation within the SCO framework.

The meeting will also agree on a list of actions for further development of project activity for a period up to 2017 and the progress of development of basic principles for the formation and operation of the Development Bank and the SCO Development Fund.

In addition, the meeting participants will discuss the results of special working groups in key areas of trade and economic cooperation.

The meeting is a preparatory stage for the conference of ministers of SCO member states in charge of foreign economic activity to be held on Wednesday, October 23, in Tashkent.

SCO was founded in 2001 and is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation. It includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status in the SCO. Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka are dialogue partners.
