Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Dec.24
By Demir Azizov- Trend:
President Islam Karimov has signed the law "On ratification of the treaty of friendship and cooperation between Uzbekistan and China."
The text of the law, approved by the head of state yesterday, was published in the national media of the country on Dec.24.
As reported earlier, the treaty was signed by the Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Chinese president's visit to Uzbekistan in September 2013.
The Senate of Uzbekistan (upper house of the Uzbek parliament) ratified the treaty at a plenary meeting on Dec.13.
It sets out the key directions of cooperation in political, trade, economic, financial and investment, transport, energy, environmental, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Once the treaty comes into force, the law "On ratification of the treaty of friendly cooperation partnership between China and Uzbekistan (Beijing, May 25, 2005)" will be abolished.
Currently, over 250 documents constitute the legal framework for relations between Uzbekistan and China.
