The deputies of the legislative chamber of Uzbek Oliy Majlis considered the bill on "Openness of the activity of state bodies and administration" at the meeting on March 11, the lower house of the Uzbek parliament told Trend on March 12.

The bill was worked out upon the initiative of President Karimov to ensure the citizens' constitutional right to information.

"The bill is aimed at implementing the constitutional right of citizens to information," according to the statement. "It includes the procedures for informing the public about the activity of public bodies. It envisages ensuring transparency and openness of public bodies, the reforms conducted in the country, the country's foreign and domestic policy, taking into account the political pluralism, diversity of opinions about the events in the country and abroad."

The bill adopted by the legislative chamber will be submitted to the upper house of the parliament - the Senate for further consideration, according to the order.
