Pakistan does not allow its territory for terrorism abroad: FM spokesman

Azerbaijan, Baku, October 20 / Trend , T.Konyayeva /

Pakistan is against terrorism, and also intends to combat all of its forms, the spokesman of Pakistani Foreign Minister Abdul Basit said.

"We have zero tolerance against terrorism and terrorists. The Government of Pakistan is determined not to allow its territory for terrorism abroad," Basit told Trend via e-mail.

At least 41 people, including two ranking commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), were killed in an explosion in Iranian Sistan-Baluchistan Province on Sunday. Jundallah has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.

Basit said that Pakistan and Iran are fully cooperating against terrorism.

"We have arrested Jundullah operatives in the past and handed over to Iran. This demonstrates the level of our bilateral cooperation," he said.

With regards to Iranian diplomat kidnapped last year, Basit said that the Government of Pakistan feels sorry about this and understand the agony he himself and his family members must have been going through.

"We are making all possible efforts to recover him safely. We are according foremost priority to this serious matter," foreign ministry spokesman said.

In November last year, a group of unknown kidnapped an Iranian commercial attache Hashmatullah Atarzade in Peshawar city, northern Pakistan. Armed men opened fire on his car and forced him to stop. After killing the guard, who accompanied the diplomat, they quickly left the scene with the hostage.

"Pakistan has particularly suffered heavily at the hands of terrorism. We are, therefore, determined to fight against this menace to its elimination," Basit said.  "Terrorism is our common enemy," he said.
