Iranian FM hopes talks to end with decisions for benefit to all Caspian countries' interests

I hope the negotiations to end with decisions for benefit to all Caspian littoral countries' interests," Iranian foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki said.

"We have common agreement on the Caspian status," the minister said at the 16th International Press and News Agencies Exhibition held in Tehran.

Mottaki said that recently the Caspian countries have the pent-lateral meeting on the Caspian status in Baku. "The Caspian is important sea from ecological, energy and natural resources point of view. The countries have agreements on both demilitarization and security of the Caspian Sea and not allowing other country's ships to sail in the Caspian sea and presence of the Trans-Caspian energy supply," Mottaki added.

The minister also said that the sides have agreed to establish Eco-secretariat to deal with use and protection of the Caspian natural resources. Iran and Azerbaijan proposed to establish the secretariat at these countries.   

The talks on the Caspian status are underway and the sides reached a common agreement, Mottaki said not mentioning the date of the final agreement to be reached.
