"USA and Europe know very well that Iran has no intention of acquiring nuclear weapons, they just want to obstruct Iran's nuclear program", former Iranian president and current chief of Advice Council Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said in a meeting with Swedish ambassador.
In the course of Iran-Iraq war Saddam Hussein applied chemical weapons against civil population , but Iran will not do anything like that, ILNA quoted Rafsanjani as saying.
He believes USA wants to achieve influence over oil-rich Iran and Iranian nation will never agree to that.
"Turning a blind eye to crimes of Zionists in Palestine, USA demonstrated its disrespect for human rights", Rafsanjani said.
Former president criticized that USA confiscated objects and commodity of Iranian company "ALAVI" operating in this country.
Diplomatic ties between Iran and USA were cut off following the capture of US Embassy in Tehran, US diplomats were kept hostage for 444 days.
USA hardened its stance on Iran, Rafsanjani said.
USA and a range of other countries accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapon for military purposes under the guise of peaceful nuclear program. Tehran denies all allegations and declares the nuclear program aims to meet electricity demand of the country.
