Former Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran Abbasali Hasanov met with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki today, IRNA reported.
The minister noted the merits of both countries' ambassadors in deepening Azerbaijani-Iranian relations. Mottaki also expressed hope to develop the relations between the countries' presidents, adding that the sides have achieved better results in recent years.
Iran and Azerbaijan have common religious, historical and cultural ties and the countries will develop their relations at a high level although foreign powers are envious, the minister said.
Hasanov thanked the ministry for supporting Azerbaijani-Iranian cooperation, noting that the countries have the potential to improve their ties.
