According to Fars news agency, Saeidi's resignation has already been accepted by the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Ali-Akbar Salehi.
No reason was given for Saeidi's resignation.
Saeidi served as deputy atomic director under both president Mohammad Khatami (1997-2005) and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (since 2005).
A member of the Iranian nuclear negotiating team for several years, Saeidi was known as a technocrat and supporter of a diplomatic settlement of the nuclear dispute.
