Iranian president gives advice to U.S. and Western counterparts

Leaders of U.S. and Western countries made major mistakes in their plans and positions, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying today by IribNews.

"They do not recognize the Iranian people and the Iranian Islamic Revolution," he said. "We know that they are involved in these recent events. But such actions cannot impact the Iranian people," Ahmadinejad told journalists after a Cabinet of Ministers meeting today.   

"They think they will weaken our nation, but the Iranian people are following their own plans," he added. "I advise the leaders of the U.S and Western countries to learn from their past experiences."

Opposition supporters and police clashed on Ashura Day Dec. 27 in Tehran.

According to international news agencies, the riots resulted in the deaths of 15 people. Police arrested 550 people. According to the official information, the clashes killed eight people, including one woman, and 300 people arrested. The relevant agencies publicized their names. Supporters of the Iranian government will rally against the clashes on Ashura Day throughout Iran at 3 p.m [local time] today.
