Iran does not intend to withdraw from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Director Ali Akbar Salehi was quoted as saying by the IRNA news agency.
"Iran has always been and remains a NPT member," he added.
He also added that this contract is designed to act in the interest of the international community and that of Iran as well.
"Iran has not ever raised at the highest level the question of withdrawing from the NPT," he said.
"Some believe the appointment of a new IAEA head will do nothing to Iran, but Iran is a free country whose citizens are free to express their opinions on any occasion," he added.
