Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani says establishing a stable and peaceful Iraq is in the interest of all countries in the region, Press TV reported.
"A stable and peaceful Iraq is beneficial to all regional countries. The Islamic Republic of Iran is eager to see the Iraqi people live in peace and prosperity," Larijani said in a meeting with Iraq's visiting deputy Prime Minister, Rafe' al-Isawi.
"Like always, Iran will continue to do its best to help bring better living conditions to Iraq," he added.
Commenting on the recent Iraqi presidential elections, the speaker also said that he hopes all Iraqi political parties would cooperate in an atmosphere free from foreign interference.
Isawi, for his part, described Iran as a regional power that can play a major role in helping Iraq to overcome its problems.
During his visit to Tehran, the top Iraqi official also met with secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili.
