US sanctions target its own companies: Iran's MP

The US measures for imposing sanctions against Iran signal imposing embargo against its own companies, Head of Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said, ISNA reported.

The US has a blunt knife for imposing sanctions on Iran, he told.

The US Congress imposed tough new energy and financial sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.

The new Congressional measures aimed at limiting Iran's access to imports of refined petroleum products such as gasoline and jet fuel and restrict its access to the international banking system.

Also the UN Security Council adopted resolution 1929 on June 10, which imposed military and financial sanctions on Iran.

"In practice, the US Congress imposes sanctions against American companies with such measures and an opinion poll from US corporations shows that they are dissatisfied with these measures and object the US administration on the issue," he said.

He added the US sanctions has had a leading role in Iran's self-sufficiency, "even in some cases such as providing gas, we can use our local potentials or other resources to meet our needs."

He also added, the US Congress measure is politically-motivated and illogical.
