The Human Rights Committee of Iran's parliament (Majlis) has censures France and Italy for standing up in defense of an Iranian woman convicted of murder and adultery. a senior Iranian lawmaker says, Press TV reported.
"The stances adopted by France and Italy on the case are true examples of their interference in Iran's judiciary system and internal affairs," said a senior Iranian lawmaker, quoted by IRNA on Wednesday.
"Such approaches are unlawful and are mere propaganda against the Islamic Republic," said Zohreh Elahian, a member of the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy.
The reaction comes in response to France and Italy's interference in the case of Ashtiani.
Iran's judiciary found Ashtiani, a mother of two, guilty of murdering her husband in collusion with another man, Isa Taheri.
Ashtiani has also confessed to having an affair with Isa Taheri.
