Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma said Tehran and Freetown should support each other in times of need, calling for Iran's assistance to his country in agriculture, energy and health, Iran Daily reported.

"The two countries should support each other at international forums" Koroma said in a meeting with a visiting Iranian parliamentary delegation in Freetown on Sunday, Fars News Agency reported.

He expressed hope that the parliamentary friendship groups would take effective steps toward promotion of ties.

"Development in agriculture, energy and health sectors is our priority and we expect Iran to support us".

Hossein Sobhaninia, Iranian head of parliamentary friendship group welcomed the "growing and friendly ties" between the two countries, saying that Tehran is willing to share its industrial, scientific and technological achievements to friendly states such as Sierra Leone.

"The Islamic Republic attaches special importance to expansion of its ties with African states, and Sierra Leone holds a special place in this regard," the lawmaker said.
