Basic jacket of platform of the Iranian oil field in the Persian Gulf has drowned on March 1, Mehr News Agency reported.

The jacket of platform with the weight of 1, 900 tons drowned few hours after it was launched on the Hengam oil field.

Iran has said after launching Hengam platform and drilling some wells there, oil production would increase up to 30,000 barrels per day from Hengam field, which is owned jointly with Oman.

Earlier Iran was producing 16,000 barrels of oil per day from Hengam from two wells on one platform.

Hengam field has 700 million barrels of oil and 2 trillion cubic feet of gas, according official statistics.
