Iran's National Security Ministry will prevent any deviations from the Islamic system during the forthcoming parliamentary elections in March, 2012, Fars News Agency quoted National Security Minister Heydar Moslehi as saying.
According to Moslehi, some movements believe that they can change the Islamic system by occupying the presidential and parliamentary chairs. "Therefore they are trying to win people over," he said.
"By exaggerating socio-political problems, they are spreading panic and fear among Iranians," he said. "These destructive forces promote relations with the U.S. and attempt to interest Iranian people and government officials under the veil of calling for reforms."
Moslehi noted that the main objective of these movements is "to oppose the Iranian Supreme Leader's policy and to accuse Iranian clerics and Islam of inefficiency."
"The ministry obtains information about their all plots and will not allow them to undermine the electoral process," he said.
Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said late August elections should be well safeguarded as a divine blessing.
"Elections are a national backing which should not turn into a challenge to national security," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
The 9th Majlis elections are due to be held in Iran in March 2012.
