Iran to take legal actions against US congressmen: FM

Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said Sunday that Iran would "definitely" take legal actions against the US congressmen who called for assassination of commanders of the Qods Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), IRNA reported.

A number of US congressmen have recently called for assassination of several top commanders of IRGC's Qods Force including its top commander Qasem Soleimani.

"The US officials are so rude that they have officially raised the issue of assassinating Iran's military officials in their House of Representatives and Senate," said the foreign minister.

Salehi stressed that Tehran would "definitely follow up the issue through legal and diplomatic channels."

He also criticized the silence of world community vis-a-vis the "rude demand" of the US lawmakers.

The US congressmen claimed that their call for assassinating top Iranian military commanders was made in retaliation for Iran's alleged involvement in a plot to assassin the Saudi ambassador to the US.

Tehran has repeatedly denied the accusation.
