Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast condemed British Foreign Secretary William Hague for his comments about Iran's Parliamentary election, Fars News Agency reported.

"Remarks of British Foreign Secretary showed interventionist position and disappointment of statesmen of the country over failure of their hostility towards the Islamic Republic of Iran," Mehmanprast said.

Mehmanparast added Hague had tried in his speech to overshadow massive popular participation in the free and fair election of Iranian Parliament.

William Hague has condemned the way parliamentary elections were staged in Iran on Friday, claiming they were not "free and fair".

Mehmanparast rejected the claims on Iran's parliamentary poll, adding, "We advise British officials to avoid repeating big previous mistakes and ignoring realities and the active process of democracy in the Islamic Republic of Iran."
