Iran's Guardian Council approved the results of Iranian 9th parliamentary elections in 43 constituencies, the Guardian Council of Iran Abbasali Kedhudai said on Thursday, Iranian news agency FARS reported.

Parliamentary elections in Iran were held on March 2.

Over 3,400 candidates compete in the parliamentary elections. The elections take place in 46,062 polling stations of 207 constituencies.

According to the Iranian media, 65 percent of eligible voters participated in the parliamentary elections in Iran. The second round of elections will be held in more than 30 districts, including in Tehran. It is scheduled to be held in late April.

The parliamentary elections of the VIII convocation were held on March 14, 2008. Ali Larijani is the chairman of the Parliament which consist of 290 members.

The first meeting of the Iranian parliament is planned to be held on the seventh date of Khordad month 1391 in Islamic calendar (May 27, 2012).
