Ahmadinejad satisfied with his Tajikistan visit

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that he was satisfied with his three-day visit to Tajikistan and his talks with presidents of the Persian-speaking countries, IRNA reported.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that he was satisfied with his three-day visit to Tajikistan and his talks with presidents of the Persian-speaking countries, IRNA reported.

Talking to reporters at Tehran Mehrabad Airport, Ahmadinejad said Iran and Tajikistan share strong historical and cultural bonds and speaking from cultural point of view, they are parts of a the same body.

He touched on his presence in the tripartite Iran-Afghanistan-Tajikistan talks, saying that the presidents discussed issues relating to cooperation on transfer of water and power from Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Iran and energy from Iran to Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

He noted that "very good" talks were held among the three sides on building railways and roads.

On the quadrilateral meeting of presidents of Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan on the sidelines of the World Nowrouz Festivity, Ahmadinejad said the main goal of the meeting had been promotion of ties between Kabul and Islamabad and settling differences between the two sides.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran fulfils its obligation to help the Afghan reconstruction drive adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran has directly suffered from Pakistan's security problems and plays constructive role in Afghan reconstruction.
'There are about three million Afghan nationals being Iran guests. The Afghan security has much importance for Iran, directly influencing Iran security', he said.

He said that the economic conference on the Afghan reconstruction has started in Dushanbe since Monday morning, adding that Iran's Foreign Minister is there to represent Iran and raise Tehran's concerns to remove the Afghan economic problems.

He pointed to inauguration of Iranian cultural house in Tajikistan and his meetings with Iranians residing in Tajikistan and said that they were outcomes of his Tajikistan visit.

The president said he had also a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, discussing ways of promoting bilateral relations in the areas of commerce, economy, energy, technology and engineering.

He said he also met with the UN special envoy on Afghanistan, briefing him on Iran's stances on Afghan problems.

He hoped that the World Nowrouz Festival would be held worldwide in the next few years in accordance with the culture and traditions observed in Iran.

'The practice will hopefully continue until revival of the spring of humanity', Ahmadinejad said.
