Syrian government must give a chance to peace plan put forward by the representative of the United Nations and the League of Arab States-General Kofi Annan, Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said, ISNA reported.
Salehi underscored that other regional countries must facilitate the implementation of Annan's plan, otherwise region will face a serious problem.
He noted that this issue should be handled with caution.
According to him, the parties have already taken steps to improve the situation in the direction of reforms, while wrong actions of some countries are fraught with consequences hazardous for all sides.
Syria and Iran have close ties, as following the outbreak of anti-government protests in Syria, Iran is currently supporting the Syrian government.
On Feb. 26, Syria held a referendum on the draft Constitution, which was favored by almost 90 percent of voters.
The Iranian government had expressed satisfaction for the results of the referendum.
