Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani on Wednesday voiced deep sorrow over recent "injustices" done by the West against Syria and said Iran has no doubt in supporting the Syrian government and nation, IRNA reported.

Larijani, talking to Speaker of Syrian People's Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, said support for the Syrian government and people has been voiced time and again in the meeting of the heads of the three branches of government with the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution.

"All know that what is happening in Syria is due to its resistance against the Zionist regime. One of the problems of today's world is the West's double-standards on various issues such as human rights and rights of nations."

He voiced pleasure with Syria's measure to draw up a new constitution and holding new elections. "Certain neighboring states defend the opposition groups in Syria at a time that not a single election has been held in those countries."

He lauded Syrian officials' efforts to attract maximum number of supporters and said it would help Syria expedite its development. Concluding his remarks, Larijani voiced Iran's readiness to share judicial experience with Syria.

The Syrian parliament speaker arrived in Iran to discuss further development of ties between the two countries. The new Syrian parliament began its work on May 24 under a fresh constitution approved by a majority of voters in a February national referendum.

Laham was elected as the speaker of the new Syrian parliament during the opening session of the assembly.

Parliamentary elections were held in Syria last month as part of President Bashar al-Assad's political reforms.
