UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon calls on Iran to actively join in the ongoing effort to end the bloody conflict in Syria, The Voice of Russia reported.
Meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on the sidelines of Sunday's conference on Afghanistan in Tokyo, Ban urged Tehran to join regional and international efforts to settle the Syrian crisis.
Russia welcomes the idea of bringing Iran on board, while the US rejects any such prospect.
