Iran has started broadcasting two new TV channels today.

The opening ceremony of two new channels - "Sport" and "Puya" was held with the participation of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the head of Iranian Radio and Television, TV channel İRİNN reported today.

TV Channel "Sport" is digital. It has begun broadcasting in a test mode since March. This around the clock TV channel will broadcast special programs on the London Olympics.

Children's Channel "Puya" is also digital. It began broadcasting in a test mode 10 days ago. The channel will broadcast cartoons and children's programs. In the future we plan to start around the clock broadcasting.

Both TV channels are being broadcasted in Tehran. They will cover other parts of the country soon.

Roughly 18 nationwide and 24 regional television channels operate in Iran. Iranian TV channels broadcast one-two-hour programs in 24 languages. Moreover, there are also around the clock TV channels in Arabic, English and Spanish.
