Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Friday stressed cooperation among Muslim states and making use of their common capacities, IRNA reported.
In a meeting with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held on the sidelines of the 16th NAM Summit, the Supreme Leader pointed to antiquity of Iranian and Bangladeshi cultures and long precedence of Persian language in Bangladesh.
The Ayatollah said profound cultural ties would serve as a very suitable ground for political, cultural and economic cooperation.
Referring to influential status of Bangladesh in the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation ( OIC), Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the D8 Group, the Supreme Leader said cooperation among OIC states and using each other's potential would definitely benefit all Muslim nations.
The Ayatollah said the only way to confront policies of bullying powers is close relations and cooperation among independent and Muslim states.
Sheikh Hasina, for her part, said Muslim and independent states should mobilize facilities and capacities to prevent big powers from making decisions for other countries.
She emphasized that Bangladesh wants expanding ties with Iran in various fields, in the economic and commercial domains in particular.
