Iran's Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said that both Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz are vitally important for Iran, and they will be protected at all costs, IRIB News reported.

"There must be no mistake, we will do whatever is necessary to protect these routes," Vahidi underscored.

Earlier Vahidi presented two new domestically made armored vehicles, during the Sacred Defense Week in Tehran.

Speaking about regional security, Vahidi said that this security has been breached up to the limit that mine-clearing exercises in the Persian Gulf are taking place, which include the participation of 30 countries, including the United States.

On Septembe 18, Iran held special mining exercises in the Caspian Sea, in presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in Iran's city of Noshahr.

Aside from mining exercises, the exercises also included tasks on protecting borders and waters of the country, as well as hypothetical destruction of small boats via air strikes.
