As the new academic year began in Iran, 336, 000 students reported for school in the country's Hormozgan Province.
Ahmad Akhondi, who heads Hormozgan's education department, said 36,000 children have reported for kindergarten and 300,000 students are enrolled in elementary, middle and high school, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reports.
Textbooks for the second and sixth grades have been completely revised, said Mr. Akhondi.
This year, 84 per cent of Hormozgan's schools are operating on a morning schedule with the rest holding classes in the afternoon.
Hormozgan Province is located on the Persian Gulf in southern Iran.
