This morning the police of Khorasan Rezavi province found and confiscated some 700 kgs of opium that were hidden in frozen meat packages, Fars reported.
Province's police chief Bahman Moghaddam said that five people were arrested in connection with the incident.
He added that the people turned out to be drug dealers, trying to transport drugs into Iran's Meshhed city.
According to Moghaddam, the police organized a set-up, and upon the arrest of the drug dealers, two cargo trucks were searched, and the drugs were seized.
During the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 20, Iranian police confiscated some 10 tons of narcotics from drug smugglers across territorial waters.
