An earthquake measuring 4.1 degrees on open-ended Richter scale shook Likak in Iran's southwestern Kohgilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad province Wednesday night, IRNA reported.
According to IRNA Wednesday night news team, the Geophysics Institute of University of Tehran, affiliated to Country's Seismography Center has reported the epicenter of the mid-strong quake as 30.96 degrees latitude and 50.11 degrees longitude.
The local time of the quake is announced at 19:40:14 (23:10:14 GMT).
There is still no report on probable material and loss of life in the quake, but the region is scarcely populated.
Iran sits on major fault lines -- the collision of the Arabia and Eurasia plates -- and has been prone to devastating earthquakes.
Nine years ago, 30,000 people died in an earthquake in Bam in southeastern Kerman province. In 1990, about 50,000 were killed in a quake near the Caspian Sea.
