A recent study in Iran has shown that depression is the most common mental disorder among the country's young generation, Mehr reported.

Head of Iranian ministry of Youth and Sports, Mohammad Taghi Hassanzadeh said that a research has been conducted among 2,500 young men and women, 600 of which were still in school, while others were already studying in universities.

He noted that the study focused on such mental disorders as depression, anxiety, hostility, aggressiveness, somatization.

Accoridng to Hassanzadeh, the study revealed the depression being the most common disorders, with 3.1 percent of the abovementioned 2,500 people.

Other mental disorders included hostility and aggression (2.9 percent), paranoid thinking (2.7 percent), anxiety (2 percent), somatization (2 percent).

Hassanzadeh underscored that depression is more developed among girls, while paranoid thinking is more developed among male population.
