Heading a high-ranking economic delegation, Iran's Vice President for International Affairs Ali Saeedlou has left Tehran for Havana.
During his visit, Saeedlou will hold a meeting with Cuba's President Raul Castro to discuss possible ways for boosting the two countries' bilateral ties, the Fars News Agency reported.
Hossein Sheikholeslam, Iran's Majlis (Parliament) director general for international affairs, said on February 6 that the increasing relations between the Islamic Republic and Cuba rendered futile the West's efforts to undermine Iran's relations with Latin American countries, Press TV reported.
Sheikholeslam said Iran has long stood by Cuba and the two countries have supported each other politically and economically despite the efforts by the United States and the West to harm Tehran-Havana relations.
He went on to say that the expansion of Iran-Cuba ties has dealt a heavy blow to US propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic's relations with Latin America.
