Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei has declared his candidacy in the country's upcoming presidential election.
Rezaei who is on a visit to the western province of Kurdistan, said he will seek the Guardian Council's approval to stand for Presidency.
The former head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said improving the economy is one of the main items on his agenda.
Rezaei previously ran in the 2009 presidential polls, where he came in third.
Iran's eleventh presidential election will be held on June 14, 2013.
Former Iranian foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki has also indicated his readiness to run.
Mottaki announced the news in an open letter posted on his personal website last week.
