IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that Iran initiated campaign to prevent cancellation of wrestling from the Olympic Games 2020, IRNA reported.
Speaking to reporters after weekly cabinet session, Ahmadinejad said, "We wrote a letter to that effect to forward to the International Olympic Committee."
He said wrestling is among few sports being consistent with the Olympics spirit. "Wrestling reflects the athletic spirit, joy, physical power and capturing moments to win."
