Two Iraqi ships were detained yesterday by Iranian naval forces, 40 miles from the coast of the Bushehr city, the Commander of Bushehr province's naval forces Kalantar Lashqari said today.

Two Iraqi ships were detained yesterday by Iranian naval forces, 40 miles from the coast of the Bushehr city, the Commander of Bushehr province's naval forces Kalantar Lashqari said today, Fars reported.

Lashqari said that the ships were smuggling gasoil from Iran, and the search revealed about 160,000 liters of smuggled gasoil on boards of two ships.

He added that in total 10 people were arrested after the ships were detained.

Lashqari added that last year also two Iraqi ships were detained in Iranian waters, with 70,000 liters of smuggled gasoil.
