All of Iran's active presidential candidates have left their votes at polling stations in the country, and made statements afterwards, ISNA news agency reported.

Principlist candidate Saeed Jalili said that everybody should respect the elected president, and help him to serve the Iranian nation. He also asked the Iranian nation and the supporters of all the candidates, to take part in the election and respect the final results.

Independent candidate Mohsen Rezaee also said that the Iranian nation should decide their fate by taking part in the election. He said that the Iranians have paid a dear cost to determine their own destiny. Rezaee who cast his ballot in a village, said that the move aims at showing that his main concern is the people, specially the low-income Iranians.

Reformist presidential candidate Hassan Rouhani predicted that the turn out would be more than at the previous elections. He also said that "not voting" never solves the problems, adding that nobody can claim a victory yet. Answering the question regarding the possibility of contesting the vote results, Rouhani said that any candidate can contest the results in the framework of the law.

Independent candidate Seyyed Mohammad Gharazi said that today is another Nowrouz for Iranians. He noted that by participating in the election, Iranians face the country's foes. Gharazi also said that the Iranian nation was the true winner of the elections.

Principlist candidate Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also said that the people's choice is for sure the best choice. He further stressed that if elected as president, he will make huge and fundamental changes in the fields of justice and development in the country.

Another Principlist candidate Ali Akbar Velayati said that he will respect the Iranian's choice. He also said that he will try his best to carry out his campaigning promises if he is declared as the winner of the election. He also said that if another candidate wins the election, he will serve him as the representative of the Iranian nation.

The 11th presidential elections have officially started today in Iran. Nearly 50.5 million Iranians are eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential poll. Iranians living in other countries are able to vote through the embassies of Iran in those countries.

The primary results of the June 14 presidential election will be announced by the Iranian Interior Ministry, and would be then approved by the Guardian Council. The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election.
