Only one entity should be responsible for setting foreign policy, President Hassan Rouhani's nominated foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif said, Iranian state IRINN TV reported.
Zarif made the remarks during his speech to defend his policies and respond to his critics on the second day of Parlimentary debates on Rouhani`s proposed ministers.
"Administrations with parallel foreign policies can't succeed in today's world, he said, adding that Iran's foreign policy has been established by country's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, according to the laws.
Zarif evaluated mutual trust as foreign policy's necessary tool and said that, trust can not be unilateral and the world should also gain the trust of Iranian people.
"The administration's foreign policy will be based on realism, self-belief and self-awareness in order to build mutual understanding and confidence with the purpose of upgrading the country's capacity ... as well as its security and development," he noted.
Zarif emphasized that the "administration of moderation" will strongly and wisely pursue the inalienable rights of Iranian nation in all fields, including the nuclear issue, without stepping back from the nation's rights even one iota.
"By creating opportunities and reducing threats, the new administration will expand the circle of friendships across the region and the world," he said, adding "The administration of moderation is prepared to make other players in the international scene" reconsider their behavior toward Iran.
Zarif also denied some MP`s statements about role of former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger as advisor, during his education in the United States.
Zarif is one of famous Iranian diplomats and had served as Permanent Representative of Iran to the UN.
