Iranian MP says nuclear issues might transfer from Supreme National Security Council to Foreign Ministry

The nuclear program related issues might be transferred from Iran's Supreme National Security Council to the Foreign Ministry, head of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of Iran’s parliament, Alaeddin Boroujerdi said.

The nuclear program related issues might be transferred from Iran's Supreme National Security Council to the Foreign Ministry, head of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of Iran's parliament, Alaeddin Boroujerdi said, Tasnim portal reported.

He went on to note that the decision will be made by the president of Iran, however the decision is not certain yet, and it all depends on the abilities of person which will be appointed as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.

"I have not opportunity to ask about the issue from President Hassan Rouhani," he said, adding that, the person who will undertake nuclear issue negotiations should be skilled and aware of all details of the case.

Boroujerdi added that the newly elected Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif is a high skilled diplomat and has good experience in the issue. He also went on to note that, undertaking the negotiations by FM depends on Rouhani`s decision.

"The approval of Iran`s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is also important in this case," he noted.

Tehran's team at nuclear talks with the six world powers has been led by ex-secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Sa'eid Jalili, during ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad`s administration.

Previously, Iranian media outlets have already published news regarding the possibility of nuclear case being trasferred from Iran's Supreme National Security Council to the Foreign Ministry.

The U.S. and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon - something that Iran denies.

The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear energy for medical researches instead.
