Iran is in close contact with Syrian government and it has assured that had never used chemical weapons, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said during a phone talk with Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino, Iranian IRINN state TV reported.
Reports confirmed that chemical weapons have been used by "terrorist groups," Zarif said.
He also condemned any use of chemical weapons and called it contrary to human principles and international rules, adding that, "international community should react to use of chemical weapons by terrorists in Syria and condemn it."
According to the report, Bonino in her turn, condemned use of chemical weapons in Syria and called for UN investigation of it.
Italian FM also has congratulated Zarif as Iran's New Foreign Minister during her initiated phone talk, the report said.
She has called for boosting consultations between the two sides on important regional and international issues.
According to the report, in the conversation, bilateral relations, international and regional issues and Iran's nuclear issue have been discussed.
