Attacking Syria would be catastrophic for the whole region, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said during his meeting with Iran's cabinet of ministers, ISNA reported.
"The region is like a powder barrel, it is impossible to predict its future," Khamenei said.
The Syrian opposition says more than 1,300 people died when toxic gases were unleashed on Eastern Ghouta and Moadamiya - two neighbourhoods on the outskirts of Damascus last Wednesday.
Speaking about Egypt, Khamenei said Iran has no intentions in interfering into country's domestic issues.
"However, those who kill unarmed people, the responsibility is upon them, and they are surely doomed," Khamenei said.
