Iranians University, which reportedly belongs to Iran's Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, claimed that it has returned the government's aid, without mentioning to the amount.
"Although the aid which was granted by the previous administration was legal and common, the University has decided to return the money to the current government in order to avoid any misjudgment," the university's public relations office announced on Saturday.
Iran's former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reportedly withdrew 160 billion Rials (some $5 million based on the rate of USD at the free market) from his official presidential bank account in the final minutes of his term in office in July and transferred the amount to a newly established university named Iranians.
Many officials criticized the move in the past few days.
Akbar Torkan, an advisor to Iran's President, said on Saturday that transferring 160 billion dollars to Iranians University is a criminal act and against the law.
"The money transfer was completely illegal and Ahmadinejad's administration had no right to do such a thing," Torkan said.
"First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri has confirmed that the move is illegal," he said, adding that the government would follow the issue.
It is while Iran's Former Vice President Hamid Baghaei has claimed that the move was completely legal.
Ahmadinejad plans to establish a private university in capital city of Tehran. The country's Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution has accepted Ahmadinejad`s application to establish the university.
Ahmadinejad has appointed his fellow-workers to new posts at his university. Ex-minister of economy and finance Shamsaddin Hosseini, and ex-head of Iranian presidential administration Hamid Baghaei have been appointed as deputies in the university.
Ahmadinejad also appointed his ex-Vice president in planning Behrouz Moradi to a post. The ex-president himself was said to devote most of his time to the university.
There were some reports published about Iranian Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution not approving the list of university founders because of such people as Esfandiyar Mashaei and Hamid Baghaee being on it, who were previously criticized by conservatives and religious leaders of Iran.
