Iranian FM: Obama does not want war

The American people do not want to take military action against Syria along with President Barack Obama, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in an interview to the Iranian Kahabronline news portal.

He remarked on Obama`s words as saying the U.S. will take military action against Syria, but only with Congressional approval.

Zarif went on to note that a militarist group is pressuring Obama to enter into a war that he is not interested in and also not need it.

The Syrian crisis has no military solution, he said, adding that military intervention just adds to the number of victims.

The interests of the U.S. Obama and his administration are linked to finding a political solution, Zarif added.

Iran is close ally of the Syrian government and shows its support for the regime of Syrian President Bashar al Assad at any opportunity.

Some Western and regional countries supported intervention to Syria, after another escalation of the situation in the country. On August 21 media outlets reported large scale use of chemical weapons near Damascus by Syrian Government Troops.

According to the preliminary data, over 600 people became the victims of the attack.

The National Coalition of Syrian Opposition claims that the number of victims could reach 1300. After the incident the parties of the conflict repeatedly declared their innocence accusing their opponents.

Earlier the US president declared that the use of chemical weapons will be a 'red line' for the Bashar Assad regime.
