Azerbaijan, Baku, Sep.6 /Trend, D.Khatinoglu/
The head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi told IRNA that Iran is ready to discuss the nuclear issue with West and solve the dispute in win-win approach.
On Sep.6 Salehi said that opposite to Iran's win-win approach, Tehran expects West to recognize its nuclear rights based on Non-Proliferation treaty and statute of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
On Sep.5 Iranian President Hassan Rohani ordered Iran's Foreign Ministry to take the responsibility for nuclear negotiations with both IAEA and P5+1, however, Salehi said that AEOI will be responsible for nuclear negotiations with IAEA in the upcoming meeting scheduled for Sep.27.
Salehi also added that Iran and IAEA agreed to appoint an Iranian ambassador to the Agency. "I was Iran's last ambassador to IAEA (1998-2003) and after me, Iran has only had permanent representative in IAEA", Salehi said.
He said that AEOI and Iran's Foreign Ministry discussed the issue of appointing an ambassador to IAEA and agreed that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran will choose a person for this post.
Reza Najafi replaced Ali Asghar Soltaneih as Iran's representative in IAEA on Aug.27. Soltanieh served for 7.5 years as Iran's representative in IAEA during Ahmadinejad's presidency.
Najafi's appointment to the post was recommended to the President by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Najafi previously worked as Head of the Department of International and Political Affairs of Iran's Foreign Ministry, director of the Office of Disarmament and International Security of Foreign Ministry and the representative of Iran to the UN Disarmament Committee.
