Press service of Iranian president Hassan Rouhani's office sent a letter of response to the European Parliament, Tasnim News agency reported.
The letter from the Iranian side was sent as a response to previous letter from European Parliament's president Martin Shulz, who congratulated Rouhani on the occasion of becoming Iran's new president.
In his response letter, Hassan Rouhani expressed gratitude to Shulz for congratulating him on the occasion of becoming Iran's new president.
Rouhani became Iran's president on June 14, after winning the elections with over 50 percent of gathered votes. He was sworn-in as Iranian president on August 4.
In the letter, Rouhani wrote about "efforts on improving relations between Iran and the European Parliament and other European Institutions".
He also said it is necessary to eliminate misunderstandings and create new atmosphere of cooperation and mutual understanding based on respect, and primary goals of Iran's new administration's foreign policy.
